Ship talk

Some odd snippets of over heard conversation....going through a crowded lounge this morning a voice boomed out
"Good morning vicar." It was the wine waiter who has seen my card and drawn his own conclusions...
Lady next to me in the Commodore club.
"I don’t know why this phones not working"
"How old is it? "
"I don’t know....not that old ...I’ve only had it ten years."
Later
"What are we doing today? "
"We can’t go ashore."
"Why not? "
"Because there’s only one way of doing it and it’s by using another boat."
I am not sure about this place....
Why not?
It’s a bit cut off.
My daughter liked it.
Well that’s no recommendation.
I do try not to listen but sometimes you just can’t help it.
"You mean you actually like Trump?"
"Sure....he’ll get it done you know." Not sure what he’s going to get done but some of the people on this ship regard him as an absolute hero. The other half apologise for him...This takes up a lot of listening time.
I am now more of a listener and spectator than a doer...but that is all good. Most of the people I’ve got to know so far are getting off in New York. It could be a lonely journey home to Southampton.
