It is lovely to be back to normal in the house....everything has been put back now and I am enjoying the blue stairs and landing...
Yesterday I got my usual post consisting of catalogues, advertisements and lots of brightly coloured travel brochures...
Amongst this lot was a plain envelope addressed to the Rev. Jean Rolt.
On opening it I found a letter from the bishop.
He thanked me for all I had done in my parish for the church.
It was the first time anyone official in the church has said thank you .
Having worked since I was ordained at 65 till now when I’m 81 it is the first official letter from the church.
It does make a difference...oddly .
I have got used to not working. I enjoy staying in bed on Sunday morning instead of dashing off to do the seven o’clock communion.
I have yet to work out what I will do on subsequent Sunday mornings about church.
So far I have wimped out of going to either church in this parish...I just don’t need to tell everyone my reasons for going.
I suspect they all know anyway...it’s just a new role I’m not yet comfortable with.
I will be. Eventually.
I am grateful for the letter of thanks from the bishop...it does make a difference.
But settling into my new role is taking rather a long time.
But time is what I’ve got now...so be it...I can do this.
