It’s very mixed news this morning...I stayed awake for quite a lot of it because for almost the first time it mattered who did well in America.
Trump has not got all his own way but his statements betray more satisfaction than disappointment.
The whole world is involved in this...I think we are all aware of the possible dangers.
That the Democrats now have the power to stop some of the planned legislative initiatives because he has lost control of the House of Representatives is almost the only good news.
Here at home Brexit still feels to me more like a threat than a promise.
It’s a very strange world all round.
Tucked away in rural Cornwall I found myself following the news during the night and remembering the statements of various Americans made to me during the last cruise.
"He will get it done." was the statement made most often.
Not being sure what "it" is I am starting to believe it.
I can’t remember another time when we cared so much about the USA elections.
So the best thing is that it takes our minds off Brexit...for today at any rate....
