Apparently a new way of providing electricity has been found here in Cornwall. We have hot rock below us.
By drilling rods into the ground the heat can be converted into electricity. I have no idea how. This has started happening near Redruth. I am told that here on the south coast we don’t have it.
But I am heartened to find that other ways of producing power is being looked for and hopefully used.
My solar tiles have now paid for themselves..but the rules seem to have changed lately ....I’m not sure why or how this will affect those of us who got them years ago.
I know that living in an area of outstanding natural beauty keeps us fairly safe here on the Roseland . However looking for ways of using easily available power is clearly a good thing and much better than fracking I believe.
It could become very easy to get complacent about the various methods being used to supplement our precious electricity usage...
Tide power seems an obvious source of power in the future .
But this new hot rock scheme shows a willingness to search out more novel ways of producing electricity.
There may be lots more to come...I certainly hope so.
