Lies or warnings?

It is becoming clear that we are lied to fairly frequently. Does everyone lie?
I watched a program the last time I was away that chronicled some of Trumps lies....there were too many to get them all in. But it seemed to accept that the truth was far too complicated to be used too often.
I think we in this country hope that our politicians don’t lie......or at least not often but I’m afraid we probably don’t know the truth of it.
Politicians do bend the truth, that much is obvious. Fake news as a description of actual lies has become almost commonplace.
Given a whole set of arguments for and against anything they will obviously chose the facts that support what they want.
This means that sometimes we may have no real idea of how we should be feeling on any subject.
It would be more comforting to think that our own politicians don’t lie to us. We want to be able to trust them but I’m not sure whether we can.
I worry, like many other people I think about the approaching Brexit date...
I am not storing up anything...my appetite is a tiny one these days and I have no one else to feed. But I have in the past stored more basic foods in times that looked as though we were leading to shortages.
I once moved house and months later remembered the bags of flour etc that I’d left in safe places around the house. I can only hope that someone else found them and used them.
This time my tiny appetite and the fact that I live alone means no sugar or flour sit waiting to be used in a famine situation.
If this all sounds gloomy I apologise. But I’m not sure that life as we know it here will continue after we leave Europe.
I am sure we have been told porkies by various of our politicians. The problem is deciding who we can trust.....
None of them seems a safe bet. What a world we have created for ourselves.,

I heard yesterday that the term fake news originated by Mr Trump is now to be called misinformation, which describes it aptly.

I believe that we were lied to over Brexit, by both remain and leave campaigns. Those responsible have no shame, they believe that their misinformation was in a good cause, their cause, not the greater good of the people of the UK or Europe.

The only politicians who have been consistently honest have been Frank Field and Caroline Lucas, from different parties, who have spoken truth to power and been ignored.

Frankly, I don't trust any of them, apart from the two that i have named, as they all have self protection in mind, rather than the good of the country.

Even the stunt of those leaving labour is just that a stunt, those involved don't have a political nous or influence of the David Owens or Shirley Williams or Roy Jenkins who formed the SDLP back than, and its an overnight sensation, distracting from the urgent business at hand, Brexit.
