The news gets no better.
I can’t remember another period of my life when so many things were undergoing profound change by which I mean that lives will be changed because of decisions taken by politicians.
A democrat state means that we have all had a say in our future if we have bothered to go out and vote.
But somehow that doesn’t make me feel any better.
Mrs May seems to be pursuing a lone path to ensure that she delivers Brexit no matter what that means now we are all far more aware of the consequences.
This afternoon I am going to see a very old friend.
She qualified as a doctor before the war but was only allowed to practice when all the male doctors were drafted into the army.
She and I talk through our present problems with dire forebodings even though we are unlikely to be around for the consequences of leaving Europe.
The entire world has changed considerably since we were young.
Mostly we agree that the changes are all good...it is a more tolerant, sympathetic world now.
As she is deaf we can’t talk on the phone so about ten years ago I introduced her and several other ladies to the joys of the internet.
I held classes in my sitting room with about ten ladies sitting with lap tops on their knees.
The survivors of these classes now use iPads .
This means they can communicate easily and we, the survivors stay in touch...
None of us are happy with what’s happening in this country.
Whilst I am with my friend several people drop in once they’ve seen my car parked outside.
It’s a jolly group of old dears...but it does have its grim side as one by one we encounter the results of old age survival.
It’s very good to talk though...and share our misgivings about the future once we’ve left Europe.
It’ll be an interesting afternoon.

I suspect that many of us feel let down by the people that we elected.
Brexit is a mess, that didn't need to happen, David Cameron holds the sole blame for this situation. His cowardice in the face of his back bench meant his being forced into a referendum, one that has divided his own party more than it ever was. He than sloped off to the tour of former, failed leaders, making a pile on the speaking circuit.
In the meantime, Great Britain and Northern Ireland are divided as never before, and the political infighting has made things immensely worse. A charter for so called patriots to wave the flag and discriminate all of those who don't look like them. Extremists on all sides, Hard Right and Hard left, warring with each other, and among themselves.
Labour, under that "Wooly" Mr Corbyn is just as divided. The attracted a huge vote from young people at the General Election, who now seeing their leaders prevarication and more right turns than Mrs Thatcher, has made him a laughing stock.
In the meantime, the Nationalists in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, are waiting and working quietly for the break up of the UK.
And of course, the Universal Credit debacle, which has forced even working families into poverty and increased those sleeping rough into the many thousands, with an unrepentant Ian Duncan Smith, crowing about how clever he was to bring it in, while people suffer and he sits in Parliament pontificating about the success of his brain wave.
Trust in our Politicians and the whole electoral process is at a low ebb, and we rush towards a hard Brexit, because patently, Mrs May's deal will not get through parliament in its current form.
It now seems to be a waiting game, gamble, to see who "blinks" first?
Bah, Humbug.
