Old age living.

Judging from all the comments on yesterday’s blog I clearly struck the wrong note about not going to the cinema.
I have access to lots of films in all sorts of different places....it’s just that they are not up to date! I was not complaining....merely noting that I’m no longer completely au fait with the current situation.
My life here in old age is very happy. I am very fortunate and I know it.
Listening to the problems the world encounters just serves to give me more appreciation of my lot in life.
It is quiet. My garden, the length of a couple of football fields contains seats where I sit and think and pray. I tell people that I don’t need to go to church when I find God there daily. Weather permitting.
The views from my windows are simply wonderful.
On days when we are battered by gale force winds I can sit and look out at the sea leading to Falmouth and enjoy the sight of the big ships going in and out.
I enjoy the antics of the young bullocks who live on the field in front of me.
On the back side of the house are windows from where I see sloping fields before revealing the church spire of Gerrans in the distance. Beyond that I see the Nare Head, a distant headland. I nod to it daily, it’s never dull here.
I am never bored, never alone.
I have developed some very bad habits....I watch far too much TV. I listen to the radio through the day as I move around. I blog daily. I drive my old Merc around the peninsula.
People drop in and chat.
Not going out is my choice on bad days when the wind threatens to blow me over..but I never feel imprisoned.
It’s all good....I am a very lucky octogenarian.

A quick look out of the window reveals that the blue tilts are nesting. It is Spring!

Well the blue tits may think so Jean, but they're in for a nasty surprise if they lay their eggs this early.

Quite often the first broods are lost because the weather suddenly shows its claws. Sad, but true.

Go and have a word with them why don't you, and tell them to wait 3 weeks.

I didn't think that you were complaining, just explaining how it was there in rural Cornwall. As for Blue Tits, we don't get many of them in North Kent, but we are having lots of Sparrows and Finches on display along the Hedgerows behind our house.

We are fortunate to back onto a large recreation ground surrounded by trees and bushes which attracts lots of wild life. Foxes, Squirrels (Grey ones ,only) and Field Mice and even voles. Because many people have ponds in their gardens, we also get Frogs coming in, which the cats don't know what to do with.

I was talking to someone yesterday, complaining that Badgers were digging up their lawn. I said that he was fortunate to see them in a suburban garden, which didn't go down well I fear.
