I settled down last night to watch the film awards on the TV.
I’ve always enjoyed this but last night realised that somewhere along the way I’ve lost touch.
None of the films meant anything to me.
Partly this is because I live so far away from London now. Here in Cornwall I never visit a cinema. I do sometimes watch a film in one of the social clubs but not all that often.
Going out in the dark , driving along rural roads late at night has not been one of my activities.
It’s much safer to stay safely at home I’m afraid.
Obviously it’s all part of the ageing process.
Staying home, warm and safe is now my chosen option.
"Poor old woman" And yet I don’t feel like that.
I still enjoy my visitors and indeed visiting...
I go off all over the world on large luxurious ships fairly regularly where I’m safe whilst exploring the world.
"Safe" is clearly the operative word here...I do now need to feel both warm and secure.
M,y spirit of adventure is exercised by going off to wonderful places on a regular basis.
The next voyage will be to St Petersburg.
I spend more time perusing the various brochures that come through my door regularly....I reject any journeys involving flight.
This is nothing to do with aeroplanes. I don’t mind flying....but the queuing involved in getting on one has prevented me even contemplating it since the last flight a couple of years ago.
I am a very fortunate woman to be able to do all this travelling. I do know that.
I thoroughly enjoy seeing places I’ve never even considered before.
Plus I like meeting people, talking to people, eating and drinking with them in direct contrast to my fairly sedentary life when I’m at home.
I am a very fortunate woman...thank you God.

Matinée showings? Netflix at home?
Movies not my thing, but don't let the dark deprive you if it's yours :)
It’s not just the dark....it’s an hours drive to get there and another one to get back...
Really not worth the effort most of the time, especially when the ferry closes down in the early evening... where I live is miles from anywhere.... but that’s how I like it.....
There appear to be dozens of films on TV, hundreds of channels, where you can subscribe to watch even the latest films. My spouse loves film, but going to the cinema, one visit is expensive enough, regular visits can bankrupt you.
As your commentator says, netfix is readily available and other channels also. You never need to darken a cinema door ever again.
I also thought that cruises showed some films? Perhaps one of those would suit your tastes?
