I watched the debate last night between Johnson and Hunt. I was not impressed by either man but really I became horrified by the performance of Boris Johnson. He quite clearly thinks it a forgone conclusion that he will become our Prime Minister.
His bumbling demeanour and the way he spoke often in haste was not in any way convincing. Hunt came out with some sense and some humour but really I was not actually impressed with either man. But no one will be surprised by this statement.. ....
And this is the problem for the Tories.
The trouble is that this is a job for the Conservative Party. No one else gets a say. In a matter as vital as this one surely more than just the members of the party should be allowed to vote. It’s the Prime Minister for us all, not just their party.
It wasn’t a complete shambles last night...but it did reveal the nature of this dilemma. They really are scared of going to the country...and there are good reasons for that...because anyone watching last night would I think feel much as I do. Neither man came out as a convincing future Prime Minister. This is a moment in History that we will all remember...
Those of us not members of the Conservative Party inevitably feel left out . This is our country....all of us are involved right now. I realise that the Conservative Party will not feel confident about getting in again right now but I think going to the country is the only honourable solution.
Listening to John Major speaking on the radio this morning..I feel some relief that some opposition within the Conservative Party is apparently growing.....
The more we see of what is going on the more the need to go to the country becomes more obvious I think. We are all involved...for better or worse... let us have our say too....please.

At last!
Someone agrees with me that the only way out of the mess is for a General Election.
I wonder if the conservatives will have the bottle for an election, because they will be wiped out, possibly for ever. Which won't be a bad thing.
But what will replace them? I can't see any party getting a parliamentary majority, so perhaps a coalition government, designed to keep the Brexit party out of power.
