Well I won’t be going far today. I will stay within ear shot of various radios around the house so that no nuance of the present situation is lost. If Boris triumphs in his bid to become Prime Minister it looks as though nothing is going to be easy for him. His trusted colleagues say they will not work in a government formed by team Johnson.
To some degree this pleases me because I don’t want to live in a country with Boris at the helm. On the other hand a stable government is essential to any country. A Prime Minister should command the respect of the rest of the world and of course Europe. It seems unlikely right now that that he will get it.
The fact that those nearest to him are not prepared to work with him speaks volumes. Mrs May will cease to be our PM today and it looks as though Boris will then take her place. Getting a government to work with is his first huge task. Many of his colleagues who know him better than we do don’t want to be part of a Boris government. This speaks volumes...no politician turns down jobs in the cabinet and yet it seems to be a definite possibility.
If he wins and is then on his way to see the Queen he will be happy I am sure but behind him members of a possible cabinet seem to be opting out. And who could blame them?
It’s going to be a fascinating day...and spare a thought for Teresa May. This present scenario is one she has tried to prevent and failed as the pressure on her to resign finally became too much.
What a situation! All over this country I think many of us will not be cheering, nor rejoicing...tears are a more likely outcome today.
Listening yesterday to Tony Bair I remembered his period as PM. He came a cropper over going to war in Iraq but no one thought him incompetent or foolish.
Today will be extraordinary for several different reasons...But it is clearly time for a general election....sooner rather than later!

As I respond here, Boris is the winner and I am nearly dumb struck that the Tory's were stupid enough to vote for him. He will be PM tomorrow, and the Queen has to meet a buffoon who will be hampering her government to run the country.
Perhaps she should exercise her Royal prerogative and refuse to accept his credentials and send Parliament into recess and in the meantime Put a Caretaker in, Perhaps Prince Philip who might relish the chance to do a little ruling and travelling in cars with outriders once again.
But really, we need a general election sooner, rather than later, as the relationship with the EU, which was already pretty down, will now hit rock bottom.
Perhaps we get what we deserve for voting leave? But this is the worst punishment that I can think off.
Oh dear! Help!
