I have not had a good night. In fact I’ve had a pretty awful night...
Trying to pin down the problem has proved hard. I am in pain but I don’t know why. Trying to get my body into a position which doesn’t hurt has been the main problem. I am not aware of doing anything different yesterday...but something I did has left me with a really bad back. Sitting up in bed hurts. Lying down hurts. Getting out of bed to look for pain killers hurts. The various pills around the house are not in regular use...I don’t hurt very often. But if I want to function normally this morning I have to try. To find some way to get out of bed is my first task.
If I could pin down how I got into this position I might be able to avoid it happening again. Now, sitting up in bed I am wracking my brains , trying to work out how it’s happened. And it hurts! I do have some aspirin in the drawer next to the bed for just this sort of emergency...but so far nothing has touched this bad back
. But I can’t stay here all day....moving is painful but so is sitting up and lying down. Hmmmmm. Silly old woman....quite apart from the pain in my back I’m tired....I haven’t slept much....perhaps I should just lie down and try to sleep.
This tempting thought isn’t very attractive though...although I’m not expecting anyone calling it would be just my luck to have people either on the phone or at the door. So I must try to get out of bed. Soon....
Sorry to be moaning on my blog but the main thing for years has been to blog on whatever exercises my mind on waking up...And this morning it’s my bad back! Sorry!
Later
I am astonished by the offers of help I’ve had since posting that...people are very kind . I have taken some painkillers and I am able to move...very slowly . But thank you for all the offers.....they are really appreciated.

Take care Jean. Did my back in years ago early 1960's pole vaulting.
Nowadays silly simple things trigger it and it can take weeks to get right.
Someone asked me if I could still pole vault and I replied "only if the pole is lying down."
Thank you. I have now had several offers of help from those who read my blog. I am both amazed and touched... my shopping has been delivered and put away and I am back in a sedentary position on the sofa. I’ll try moving again soon... wow. Faith in humanity is intact!
A suitable dose of pain relief will help. Paracetamol, ibuprofen, whisky, gin, brandy etc taken in appropriate doses.
A hot water bottle on the site of the pain also helps.
As someone who suffers from perennial back pain due to prolapsed lumbar discs, I can emphasise with you. I am careful how I move and how I bend, and normally avoid the issue. But after a few weeks I get an ache, which I can't pin point what I did, but it does hurt.
I go to an osteopath regularly so am able to get manipulation and she has given me exercise including stretching, turning half way around by ways, with feet firmly planted on the floor, which helps. Lying flat on the floor and stretching legs and arms as wide outwards also helps. And even hanging off a door while on tiptoe can help as it stretches the spine a bit.
I avoid pain killers as long term, they are harmful. But in extremis voltoral cream helps.or a heat patch on the offending spot relieves the ache for a while.
I hope that you are feeling better by now.
