Oh dear...or words almost to that extent! I’ve lost a tooth during the night. It’s gone...no trace...it’s just not where it should be. I assume I’ve swallowed it. I’ve looked in my bed...it’s not there!
It’s not a front tooth...it,was slightly to one side but it’s still very worrying...so my first query this morning was to the man who used to be my dentist who is in Cornwall at the moment. He reassures me that it’s nothing to be really worried about...lots of old people have lost teeth in just the same way!
Some how that’s not really reassuring! I will ring the local dentist here this morning to see what she suggests...if anything.. in the meanwhile I won’t be smiling much...if at all. Normal talking doesn’t disclose the problem...it’s only visible when I smile....so there’s not much of that going on for the momen!
The problems of aging seem to be ganging up on me right now...so do I resist...fight back a little or do I simply accept that I can’t do everything I always used to do or that I had planned to do in my old age?
My cleaner arrives soon...she will be the test case...will she notice without my drawing attention to it? Do I really want an artificial tooth to take its place? If that’s even possible. Oh dear. Or similar words to that effect!

Since writing that other things have happened which I can’t explain . My cleaner noticed that one side of my face looked strange, very red in a patch. I now look as though on going to bed I fought several rounds . My memory of going to bed last night was that it was all normal. I listened to the radio for a few minutes and went fast sleep. Nothing happened during the night and yet here I am with a tooth missing and what looks like the makings of a black eye! A round ring around the eye is sore to touch and is a blotchy red. Weird ! I don’t think I was up boxing with anyone last night but my face tells a different story. I am seeing the optician tomorrow. What she’ll make of it all I can’t think!
Tonight I am eating out with friends. I think. Unless they run away at the sight! Arghhhh!
Losing loose teeth is not unusual. But swallowing it might be a bit of a choker.
Are you sure that the tooth isn't embedded in a gum or the side of your face, which might explain the red patch external on your face.
Worth getting checked quickly.
