I don’t know whether everyone gets scam emails or it’s just me...but still they arrive almost daily.
Various attempts to get money out of me are surfacing far too often. They are all depressingly familiar . One set of mine clearly thinks that I’m an American, living in the USA and still very young. . It’s especially funny when they offer me some sort of apprenticeship. I have tried to give them the information that 1) I’m English living in England . 2) I am not still a teenager. 3) I already have a job from which I’m retired...and 4) I’m not definitely not available to paint anyones house!
I don’t want to become a plumber, or need anyone to sort out my taxes. Or change my sex or have dates with strangers. The last called me Vicky! Dear Vicky at that! Does anyone ever rely to any of these? I wouldn’t even if I really was a teenager called Vicky!
Mostly this sort of email amuses me and I delete them instantly but still they come...I am obviously on a list of possible victims somewhere..
They really don’t worry me now at all but I am amazed at the effort involved in trying to get my attention.
I am told that it’s definitely not just me and then given all the steps I need to take to rid myself of the unwanted mail. But I don’t do that...on a dull day there is a certain pleasure to sit and delete the rubbish , to laugh at some of it and wonderful if they ever get a positive response. Presumably as it costs them nothing to send out the massed email they must get someone to respond occasionally.
So to anyone out there waiting for a response.....sorry, thanks for the job offers but no thanks...

The majority of these scams come from automated systems, which target email addresses which have been compromised or just randomly generated in the hope of getting a hit and someone responding. Your responses to tell them that you are not the person they think you are, tells them that your address is live and can be sold on to other scammers.
Best response is literally to just delete, or if they purport to be from an organisation, forward the email to that organisations scam email address service. Most big companies online will have one.
They will keep coming, fortunately, my email service is aware and identifies scams and sends them to the scam box, where I am able to just delete forever.
