To blog!

It’s Autumn. No argument there. It’s dark outside but fine...but.from now on it will get steadily colder and darker. In the evenings.  This depressing thought was chased away last night by going out to supper  with old friends.

These were very old friends indeed  going back about twenty five years...so we all know each other well.  The other members of this group still live up country but have homes  here so they come frequently. It’s always good to see them and we are never lost for words...plus they are far more up to date with what’s going on locally than I am.   I clearly don’t get out enough. They knew details about what’s happening in the villages than anything I encounter daily so they have given me several ideas  to explore eventually....but this will have to wait whilst I start to pack for the next cruise.

Last night I once again ate two starters instead of a proper meal,   This suits me and I was startled to find that my old friends were doing something similar.  We are all adjusting to being ancient whilst still enjoying going out for meals together.  During the conversation one of them observed that a person in the village they live in up north wrote a blog..the tone used was slightly disparaging so obviously I couldn’t resist it.

"I blog" I announced  cheerfully.  This news was clearly a surprise. They were interested enough to ask how to find it ...so if you are reading this this morning...good morning to you...

The words "I blog" was a I think a bit embarrassing.  For them as well as me...but now in my old age it is my way of reaching out...chatting as I go... to old friends , new friends, cruising companions and everyone else in between..    SO " I BLOG"   Good morning all!   Friends old and new...  have a good day!

You blog, as we know. Why should old friends find that strange?

Our friends know that I blog, but only occasionally, as I am rather busy, reading others blogs. I suppose that I could blog daily, but find inspiration sometimes a bit thin, or I have nothing to say that would be polite, given our politicians. And I find an outlet here often to share those feelings.

But my time is also devoted to other things as well. Church, Ministry, family and friends and family research. I maintain a number of family trees for myself and others and it can become all embracing, so I give it an hour and than do something else.

And now, I have taken on our Parish Magazine as our former editors have gone abroad for a work placements for three years in the south atlantic. They will be submitting articles for the magazine while they are away.

October is my first edition and I have included a lot of stuff from the parish, the diocese and the wider church, as well as other stuff of interest. Who knew there was so much out there to support parish magazines, I now have sources for articles, cartoons, images as well as input from parishioners who like to be included.

I also maintain the parish facebook page, so enough to keep me going.

Blogging is a feature I will introduce into the parish mag, with pointers to blogs that I follow, so if you get some strangers from North Kent following you, blame me.
