Listening to Michael Gove on the radio this morning I just want to despair...it appears that our Prime Minister and his ministers are not actually listening. Gove just keeps going and is not attempting to answer questions he doesn’t like.
They obviously feel very hard done by .....thank goodness...
Parliament sits this morning...despite our Prime Ministers intention to stop it. He is flying back from New York but it’s not known if he’ll get here in time...
It’s all the stuff of fiction! The sort of stuff you’d enjoy if you read it in a novel ...but this is actually real. These people are those who govern us. Boris, Gove and the rest of the do or diers are clinging to power despite some of their own party opposing them.
We are in desperate need of an election....one that has a clear result. Because much of this angst is because it’s too easy to vote the governing party down.
Across the pond President Trump is dismissing the whole thing is a bit of a spat...but he seems to be en route to a showdown himself...
We shouldn’t be surprised that Mr Trump and Boris get on well....they seem to be from the same mould.
But the bottom line is still wether we leave the EU in October.... I am not sure where we are now with this... but it seems no one else is either...
A vote of no confidence in the government seems an obvious way of dealing with it..but Brexit has a lot to answer for...
Listening to all these politician trying to make sense of it all is just depressing...but rivetting at the same. I’m not sure that praying is going to work for this one....but it’s all I’ve got!

I agree Jean. It's so depressing and ridiculous that these people are supposedly running the country.
However, listening to the speech yesterday by Jeremy Corbyn at the Labour party conference on TV, I actually found it gave me great hope. For some sanity, some fairness and some grown up politics to improve life for all of us and not just the very wealthy people & corporations.
I was disappointed by Mr Johnson's reaction to the court decision. He seems to dismiss it as of no consequence on how his is conducting his government. The only good thing is that he won't be able to dismiss parliament out of hand in future, nor will any future PM.
I find the oppositions resistance to a general election puzzling. They refuse to give a vote of no confidence until Boris gets an extension to the leave date. He is obliged to do so if there is no agreement by 17th October, but, even if he does so, there is no guarantee that the EU will grant an extension.
We could crash out by his doing the least that he has too to obey the law. In other words, writing to ask for an extension in terms which imply that he doesn't really want one.
I find his obstructive conduct to be puzzling. In one breath he says that he wants a deal, but in the next he says, if we don't get one, we will leave on 31st October, come what may! He appears to be in some sort of cocoon that is impervious to pressure and the feeling of us that want a resolution NOW.
But he is building his armoury for a general election, convinced that he will sweep away all opposition to get his way, but he faces the danger of a re-envigorated Nigel Farage, who wants to sweep away all opposition to brexit at the ballot box, which includes the Tories.
If we have an election, it is likely there will be another hung parliament, but perhaps some reasonable horse trading will produce a government of national unity, preferably without Mr Corbyn leading it, as he is another one who prevaricates right, left and centre, He is a brexiteer to his core, but refuses to disclose what he will do if it comes to the crunch.
The mess and drama in parliament will continue for as long as it sits, so the election is a possible solution, but can't be certain of anything.
Those outside the Westminster Bubble, including business and the health services are desperate for a solution which politicians seem unable to provide.
Big speeches do not make for peace. Only sensible debates, not including some of the prime movers might give at least some hope, but I'm not holding my breath.
