Gosh....who could ever have believed our present political position? Threats to sack people are flowing...we seem to have become a third world democracy over night. People are threatened, not just with the sack but by being deselected by their constituentency parties as well.
I do wonder what the local Conservative parties are making of this Boris Brexit plan. I can’t imagine many local parties would be content with the threats coming out of number ten.
Previous Prime Ministers are said to be offering advice...with Tony Blair coming over as a sensible voice which in itself is weird.
Boris is clearly not listening. Not to anyone apparently. He is following his course with vigour and consistency so full marks on that score...his determination to get us out of Europe is being pursued beyond anything that anyone could have imagined.
We are a divided nation. Half of us wants to leave Europe whilst the other half wants to stay as we are. It would be easy if there was any point of agreement but I’m afraid there isn’t. Another referendum is being refuted. I can quite see why but the nation is now in a perilous state. Giving the country another opportunity to declare its intention seems like a good idea but imagine the month leading up to it! Somehow passions have been aroused and emotions stirred...old friendships destroyed, new alliances are crossing party bounds.
Having Boris in Downing Street is proving divisive...his own ministers are being treated like traitors if they disagree. He is clearly unwilling to compromise...but does he have a choice? Some sort of agreement is obviously necessary.. but no one knows how...Boris we are told this morning is following a strange method. " Back me or sack me!" I know which of those I would do...but he’s only been in place for a very short time. Once again I am wishing the opposition was stronger...but it’s all a mess!
