Car problems.

I’m not having much luck at the moment.   Yesterday I took my car out to visit a neighbour. I only got a few yards.   It was making dreadful sounds, a sort of bleep.  I turned her round and brought her home and then looked the noises up in the Mercedes booklet.  Get help was the message. Arghhh!

Ok, I rang the garage in Truro who has looked after her since we bought it...about ten years ago.  They came out.   Several misturnings keep us all alert...but eventually my car was loaded onto a trolley and off she went.   By yesterday afternoon they hadn’t found the problem...so my first job this morning will be to ring them to find out what’s happening.  One thing is certain...it will not  be cheap!

My Merc is lovely, a pale blue car which was once David’s whilst I had a Beetle. I don’t want to get rid off f it but I am aware that in car terms it’s getting old...and will need to be replaced soon.   So I’ve been casting an eye over the small cars...the so called smart cars...

I don’t need anything big but living here miles from anywhere I do need transport otherwise I am trapped in my house and garden.

Two ideas are chasing each other round my mind....an electric car? A very small smart car?

The last time I had the choice f cars I picked a new Beetle...a Volkswagen!  She was tiny but I loved her dearly...she went off to one of David’s grandsons after I’d taken over the Merc .

So, decisions, decisions...I  really don’t want anything flashy, I’m happy to keep my old Merc going providing she doesn’t cost me too much!   So hopefully I will keep what was once David’s car going...yes, this is a sentimental decision.  So be it...time to start making phone calls having checked my bank balance first!   Arghhhh!

I am driving a 15 year old Peugeot and will continue to do so until it really becomes too expensive to run.

I have never had a new car myself, my spouse had a new car five years ago, and is loving it. A small hybrid Peugeot which is cheap to run, minimal road tax and quite roomy (a hatchback).
