No road, no fireworks!

It’s just as well I have a cleaner.  She broke the news to me yesterday that the road going past my house would be closed every night for a week.  I had seen warnings about this in various places but it had failed to sit easily with me...possibly because I don’t go out much at night.

The road does need to be mended in places....outside my house a really deep lake makes for a showy splash when ever a vehicle drives through after rain.  But I hadn’t registered that the closure would keep me prisoner every evening.

It’s not a serious problem. I don’t go out much at night and if I do people always pick me up because they know I don’t like driving in the dark.

Apart from my cleaner the other source of local information is Facebook!   I have read various moans, discussing the closure for weeks on and off....I just didn’t realise it was my road they were talking about. Poor old woman

There is nothing in the diary this week.....it’s going to be quiet.....even quieter than I thought. And that’s alright...

Bonfire night has been put off till the weekend but I will see the fireworks from on high out of my sitting room window. I get the best view without having to leave the house and the road closure gives me a cast iron excuse  for this...and no one will be arriving to drag  me out now the road outside is closed....   So it’s not all bad news....I will see the fireworks from St Mawes, and Falmouth across the water....

I’m just glad I have no dog....he used to bark himself silly on these occasions...so The fifth of November is no longer something to dread....I can enjoy it all from my sitting room...   alleluia!

We seem to have been having Bonfire Night for the past two weeks. Combined with the Asian Feast of Divali, we have constant fire works going off, and our cats hide in cool, dark places throughout.

I believe that only public displays should be held, and that fireworks should be restricted to those events only. I don't agree that they are safe as the news this morning is full of reports of how the Fire Services were called out to incident occurring across the country. This cannot be justified, and cases of misuse or negligence causes real problems which are unnecessary.
