Classical music.

This is going to be a very busy weekend.  People are arriving today because the music  starts tonight.   This weekend is run by the big hotel in St Mawes . Several years  ago they bought the redundant Methodist Chapel and restored it to its former glory . When  I was a school governor I occasionally took the school children, all fifty of them to perform in it in various ways .

Now it’s wooden pews gleam, everything in it has been polished and brought back to life.   So what better place to hold a concert or two?

This year we are having several concerts of music by Brahms.  Soloists are singing ,all the musicians are first class and it will be very enjoyable.   During the week I have been sent several emails from the organisers of this weekend.   The bottom line is that it is a sell out!  Around five hundred people will settle down to be entertained beautifully. But those who inevitably  turn up without a ticket will be turned away....this is astonishing....the hotel which started this could not have foretold this sort of success. It is a small village which no one could have thought would fill a chapel of around five hundred places so easily.   It has become well known now which is astonishing as people are arriving from afar already . There is nothing easy about their choice of music...none of it is particularly well known...but still they come.

I am hoping to get a lift in to all the concerts.    I have my tickets ready!   I just wish I didn’t look quite so ghastly.,   .my black eyes are not as startling as they were yesterday...but they are still very dark!  However no one will be looking at me in the crowds that will collect over the weekend...hopefully!      On with the motley!

Sounds like a great weekend of classical music and lots of people you know, greeting and meeting you. Perhaps the Bishop or Arch Deacon will come and you can demonstrate that not having PTO isn't holding back your cultural life.

Off course, you could offer to bless the proceeding, given that you remain in Holy Orders and this isn't a church event or service?

I hope that all goes well and you are able to report back to us the best of it.
