No cash!
My biggest problem this morning is that I’ve run out of money....well cash anyway. I pay my gardener in cash...if I give him a cheque he has to go into Truro to get it into his bank account. Cash is usually easier for both of us but on this occasion I have not been able to get into the village to visit the nearest cash machine. I shall explain this to him. In fact he’s the only person I’ve actually spoken to face to face since all this mess that we are in started. My car hasn’t moved for over a week so the first job this morning is to see if it will start. After that I’ll have to decide...is going to a cash machine allowed? In a conversation with my daughter in law last night she tells me that the police have been stopping cars to tell people to go home. As we approach what will hopefully be the end of all this mess, lock down appears to be almost over...I could just say I’ll pay him double next week! I’ll talk to him anyway....after I’ve seen whether my car will start. I don’t mind a bit of isolation. I am told that some people are walking around complete with various masks...looking she says quite jolly at times. It’s a strange world we are living in but the sun shines, traffic is moving outside and the world is looking good from the safety of my bed. The phone has been the main way of communication this week. Plus I know that people are reading my scribblings. It’s a strange world out there...but hopefully getting easier! Running out of cash is not the end of the world...I just have to talk nicely to the man who keeps my garden under control. OK. I can do this!

I wonder if your Gardner couldn't post a cheque to his bank< I do as our bank branch is some miles away in a town centre with quite limited, expensive parking.
I sent it 2nd class and normally it is in the bank within a couple of days.
Alternatively, if you do online banking, you could transfer the money directly into his account. If not, perhaps it is time to deploy your tech skills and take up online banking?
I suspect that he will accept the cheque though as he can access the money in cash at the bank counter if you make it out to cash
Mind you, some banks are limiting hours, including ours. Only open four hours a day, allegedly due to staff self isolating. We shall see what happens after Sunday, when Uncle Boris makes his speech to the nation.
All is well. I have now found enough cash in various handbags and pockets...for this week anyway. Next week will wait!
