Staying solitary.
Nothing that was planned yesterday actually happened! The hot pasty never appeared. Instead a car arrived and a box was thrust into my porch ...on opening the box I found an entire crate of wine. Another twelve bottles to tuck away... no words of explanation were offered..so I can only assume that plans had gone adrift and she did her best to fulfill the order. I would have preferred the hot pasty but the wine will no doubt come in handy....
If I can ever get any of it open. My usual wine has easy to remove caps....these haven’t. So then I sent for an electric bottle opener.... it was a strange day all round. A new friend has appeared with many flourishes and some style...but I am being very careful with this one...and as I know he reads this blog please understand that I do already have a life...a solitary one at the moment but a good one. Mostly. A huge van has just gone past very slowly...it has clearly delivered already so the coop in the village will be stocked! This strange period of being locked in is proving quite interesting, with several offers of help arriving daily. But the truth is that I am fine..being locked in is not much different from my normal way of life. I can and do go out...around my huge garden but I have also crossed the road to look at the old gate into the next field. .... sometime soon I might just walk down to the beach...and into the sea...
My situation here is pleasant....nothing to complain of.. All I have to do is to resist the temptation to flirt. There’s always lots of wine though....ahem!

A new friend with lots of "Flourishes" that draws a picture of someone like the late "Jimmy Edwards" with huge moustaches and a copper plate accent?
I hope you are able to resist the blandishments, because he sounds more like a lothario than a friend.
And the Wine? Tut, tut. But enjoy.
Thank you Dad!
Cheques can very easily be paid in to all the common banks at any Post Office. He just needs a paying-in slip from his own chequebook, the Post Office will provide the envelope, or he can order a supply from his bank.
