Stay safe!
Oh dear. Yesterday I wimped out of going to see my friends in the next village...I wasn’t sure of the new rules but the main reason was the sun. Since having had my brush with skin cancer a few years ago I have avoided occasions that involve me in being outside in full sun. I can cope with small amounts providing I am covered up and wearing a big hat. But the truth is that I have become very wary of getting into situations that I can’t control. So I let good friends down and I now realise how daft I have become. Another friend sent me an email last night saying that she was coming to see me today. But the sun still shines so we will have to be inside. I have become a wimp! I can laugh it off mostly....saying things like, "No one needs two operations for skin cancer" but the truth is that I have changed. I am comfortable staying at home on my own...I am used to it because it’s safe. If I don’t go out, if I am simply at home on my own then I am safe. Everyone I talk to either by phone or on line the last few words used are invariably "Stay safe." Perhaps I’m too aware of danger since my experience of skin cancer but I really don’t want it again. So in my old age I have become a wimp. I will try not to let people down. I feel very bad about thst. But for me staying safe means just staying put in my own home and garden. Yes I am a wimp. But I intend to try to stay safe....mostly by not sitting in the sun today. Oh dear!

You are not a wimp, you are wise and keeping yourself safe. Nobody can argue with that which is you taking responsibility for how you conduct yourself.
When we see the disgraceful behaviour of some people in places like Bournemouth and Formby (your old stamping ground) where people crowded onto beaches, ignoring social distancing and misbehaving in consumption of alcohol, driving many miles to get there and just dumping cars, blocking roads and local peoples access or egress to their properties.
Bournemouth issued over 580 parking fines on one day, and declared a major emergency. Public conveniences were closed (not sure why) so people used peoples gardens as toilets.
Because of this irresponsible conduct, there is danger of a second wave of the virus and an enforced closure of public places due to the risk of it.
So, no more of the wimp word, be proud of your self control which kept you safe.
