My hedge onto the main road needed it’s annual cut back today. It had grown tall and looked very untidy plus it restricted my view of the outside world. So off I went...not to do any of the actual work but to look after the gardener...I don’t want him falling. Climbing the ladder to reach the top always looks dodgy so I try to help by holding things steady. The passers by outside must wonder why I’m not doing anything much...whilst John does all the work. But at least I can keep the ladder safe from small children and dogs. There are a lot of people here on holiday...in theory they will start leaving after the Bank holiday. But often they are replaced by the regulars who wait for them to go. Autumn is very often busier than summer here...and very beautiful. Some trees are already taking on a golden tinge...but not the fir trees currently being shaped by John. The village looks after its own very well and lots of people have stopped to chat as they go. This week I phoned the pharmacy about the tablets I am supposed to take when I remember them. I was warned that going into the village was still dodgy and early in the morning is the best time. There was no rush for the tablets so I waited, in theory for a time when it was quiet so a couple of days later the man from the pharmacy arrived here with them. I was very touched...it is a village which looks after its own. Thank you God.

Our village pharmacy offers a free delivery service for anyone who requests it and not just for the current situation. I think most pharmacies do that these days.
There’s a house on the lane near me with very high hedges my hearts in my mouth whenever I see the owner up his ladder, thankfully the lane is usually quiet of traffic and people.
Most pharmacies these days offer a delivery service. But I prefer the walk to them to collect medications. I suspect in a few years when mobility might be impaired, that this will be a valuable service from them, but for now, I am content with the exercise that it involves.
My spouse has just been offended by a phone call from the "Elderly Group" at a local hospital (she is only 67) that wants to have a telephone consultation with her in a few days. We have no idea who referred her to them, as she has enough referrals back to Lewisham (where she had rehab for her stroke) without any additional ones. We are waiting for an email from them to explain.
