Strange times.

I got a couple of visitors yesterday...one in the morning, the other in the afternoon. Both people were asking me about my continueing isolation. Both of them opened my fridge to check its contents! It was dismally bare but I was able to state confidently that Tesco was due today! I was not going to starve. It was amazing how much joy that statement brought me. Tesco really is coming today, bringing enough food to keep me going for another couple of weeks. Strange times indeed. How a simple statement about Tesco has become a life enhancing joy is extraordinary. But these really are strange times we are living through. I am told that the shopping areas in Truro are empty these days. No window shopping, no tourists enjoying the stroll along the river...it is empty. One of my visitors works in the town and she reported that almost all the shoppers are wearing masks. That in itself is remarkable. We are obviously taking the virus seriously.... as we should. I am told that its likely that this weird period will not end any time soon. When ever Christmad is mentioned I just groan..it is not a happy thought. I have spent the last few festive seasons cruising...this year I shall not be going to the other side of the world. I probably will stay at home. Oh dear. Or words to that extent! so...on we go...all of us.....oh dear!

I think we are spoilt here. We have a corner shop which sells most things apart from fresh fruit, also a local high street with a green grocer who can fulfill that need, all within a short walking distance. There is even a pound shop there, where cut price household goods can be purchased, alongside gardening seeds, bird seeds and a plethora of other useful items. If you need a picture frame, childs toys, that is the place to go.

We even have a florist, a coop mini market, an opticians, two chemists and two betting shops and a post office. An urban village really. There is even a large charity shop, that sells quality used clothes, furniture extremely reasonably. And of course a barbers, two hair dressers, two cafe's and a garage. and a bus service every 15 minutes which will take you to the two local hospitals. And a Doctors surgery as well. Who could need more
