People arriving!

Well! From being very quiet and seeing no one at all for days it suddenly got busy yesterday. My neighbour was very welcome when she arrived but it meant that I forgot the presence of my gardener. When I finally realised he was here I dashed out to pay him with the only cash I could find. After that several messages arrived to say that friends were intending to get here next week. None of them are staying with me but are staying close at hand and are planning various meals and outings....Oh dear.......Everyone has assumed I must be suffering in this isolation...but actually I am not. I will enjoy seeing people turning up mostly but I really dont need company for the most part. I am fine on my own, sorting out arrangments for getting food delivered etc. In this part of the country the cases of known flu are very few ...so far...but people are arriving to make all the arrangements for the winter . Boats to be taken out of the water, houses left safe etc. Normal Autumns bring alot of visitors once the summer crowds have gone home. Its when I see most of my oldest friends and this year is looking no different. This is something I should have thought of when I booked myself into the hotel. But I didnt . My assumptions were based on people staying safely at home. So I am not sure now what to expect! I suppose I will cope. We have very few cases of flu .....so far....lets hope it stays that way!

The question is have you had your flue jab> We had ours two weeks ago, booked personally by our GP, who insisted that Jen and I had it as we are both vulnerable. Age had nothing to do with it, I ithink?

Jen had her Occupational Health assessment yesterday, over the phone for her work with the MoD. A very helpful and empathetic female therapist who listened well and asked lots of useful questions. We will get a copy of the report for her employer, which we will understand will support her getting back to full time by Christmas. At the moment she is working the equivalent of two full days a week, and enjoying it. People she knows well and likes. For me, just getting her well was the important thing, but her personal drive and determination has helped her along to make a very good recovery.

How this will all work out remains to be seen. I am keen for her to retire and be safe at home, but her workplace is enforcing covid safe regulations, and have been very concerned for her well being. Restricting what she can do, always having someone around to support her and generally making sure she is safe.

i hope that your visitors are as concerned for your welfare and don't expect you to galivant around the peninsula with them.
