Onwards?
I just did not want to get up this morning. I pulled the duvet over my head and listened to the news. None of it was good...and then I remembered the problems waiting for me downstairs...so I got up. Fully dressed in warm clothes Ive been outside. Its just as bad in real life as it had been in memory. Inside the house everything is normal. Outside it is not. If there is a way through all this it has yet to appear. I am back in my office with metaphorical covers pulled over my head. I thought at first it was Monday. But it seems to be Wednesday! Where we go from here is a mystery. It is at least dry as yet. But the light is unconvincing...its quite dark out there and its dry.But no one is working. On anything! Especially me. I hear cars going by. Some people are going to work...but not my workmen. I have no idea why. If they turned up I could ask them. I am sorry for this appalling lack of direction...but there doesnt seem much to aim for just now ...apart from staying alive..... and I think I am still that! So I have no plans for today. I will wander through the house which still feels normal. I have food in the fridge...and plenty to drink...some alcohol but not all. So on I go...Where to is not yet clear! Just onwards...OK?

Good afternoon Jean.
I hope that as the day has unfolded that some of the mysteries of the lack - or otherwise- of workmen have been revealed.
Do you know which company they are working for? Perhaps there’s a simple explanation about their absence.
I wasn’t keen on climbing out of bed this morning either!
However, it is now lunchtime and I’ve had a couple of phone calls and done a 5 mile walk. I have a supermarket collection to drive to later and then I’m quiz ‘master’ for an online quiz this evening. Busy day 😊😊
Take care
Late to the party yet again. I can see how your situation seems endless, because you can't see any improvement outside.
I am wondering why those doing your repairs are not turning up? Perhaps they see you as a vulnerable elderly woman, who is not on their priority list for the work being done?
Time perhaps to challenge them and to demand that they get on with the work and turn up daily. If they have problems with getting materials, surely they should be communicating with you.
I know how difficult it can be to get reliable workmen, we need to have a slate replaced on our roof, but so far, no one has offered, despite ringing around. The reliable roofer we used to use has retired.
And I am not able to climb to do the job, as I get giddy up ladders, which caused a fall a couple of years ago, while I was repairing our garage roof. I might be able to get someone in, but they all say they have waiting lists.
I hope and pray that you get some results to cheer you up soon.
Praying for you, Mtr Jean. I've some building issues of my own that are stubbornly not shifting - while a neighbour seems to be having an underground supervillain's lair excavated and fitted out in the back garden of their tiny bungalow! At least we'll know where to run if the Four Minute Warning sounds (bet you remember that too...)
Not generally a "Got a Word for you from the Lord" sort of person: but I have a definite sense of contact, and that He has you in His hand, "safer than a known way". All love, from another of your "fans".
