Beautiful!

I have found a program on the radio from Cornwall giving me up to date news of what is happening around me. I will not want to have it on all the time...the jingles would drive me mad after an hour or two but right now I am hearing all the sort of news you only get on local radio...about what is open and what can still be bought if you are prepared to walk there...I am not yet ready for this...but I will be I expect so I must try to remember how I got here... Its just one more ingrediant of my daily life miles from anywhere...But apparently there is a housing shortage causing problems...and the inference is that its because too many people have jumped into the housing market during this present period who dont actually live here but are hopng to make money during the forth coming season. Its news to me that we are still expecting a holiday season. I am told that many people are coming here sooner than go abroad. I hope they wont be disappointed...Our weather isnt quite up to tropical...which is how its being described by some! This morning its darkish outside and on a short trip round the garden I needed a cardigan. But good luck to all those arriving shortly. Its still the most beautiful place in the world.!

Cornwall weather is deceptive. Having spent time there over the years I would go prepared for extremes of weather, particularly is you are on a walking holiday. The bits of Exmoor in Cornwall can be pretty unfriendly, but also glorious.

I can remember in the late sixties being based in Plymouth and often crossing the Tamar for visits or even on military exercises. Glorious one day and ghastly the same day. But overall I loved the County. We haven't been back there for over 20 years, when we attended a week's holiday run by the British Legion at a Camp Site. Convivial company, all ex-service, some still serving as I and my spouse were, with some interesting activities, lectures and a final meeting to lay wreaths at a local war memorial. I can't remember the name of the village, we did this at, but just remember the lovely weather on that particular day.

I also remember staying in some of the old Camps and Forts, now converted into either Training establishments or Venues for adventure type holidays. Happy days.
