Not boring!

Well I am up, dressed and having a coffee..... unfortunately its black which is not my choice....I have run out of milk! I could go into the village but somehow this does not get my vote! I am told that its still very full. ....all the people who used to go abroad are here instead..so I am learning to drink black coffee....maybe I will get used to it one day! The days pass quietly...not too many visitors right now..and really all is well. I am not expecting visitors for a few days....so its just me and what I am missing most is my dog! My lovely old golden retriever was a gentle amiable chap who died at almost 14 years old a few years ago...but his toys are still here....moved around by me and my cleaner...I am occasionally tempted to get another but unless one turned up who needed a home badly I think its unwise to acquire one. I could die before him! Or her...or more often it...these days! I have no plans for today...which is not a surprise I am sure...I have got used to ambling around on my own...perfectly happy most of the time with an occasional chat with stray passers by. And I find I am happy...most of the time..with no one relying on me or expecting anything! The radio fills in the emptiness most of the time but silence is actually golden too. I am trying not to have background sound most of the time...music excepted! I like hearing the sounds of intrumrnts playing more than the voices discussing politcs ! Nothing seems relevant now anyway! But its definately not boring!

Why don't you put a one pint of milk, either green or blue top, in the freezer ? I have done it for ages and it really does keep very well.
Make user the top is screwed on tightly and just put it in. When you need milk, you always have some. Just take it out, either put it in a small dish, with a piece of kitchen towel in and leave it on the kitchen bench to thaw out, or if you do not need it so quickly, do the same but put it in the fridge to thaw. I just gently turn it up and down to make sure it has not separated. It is as good as when you bought it and you never run out. Just an idea to help you I hope.

Good afternoon Jean. So sorry to read you are missing your beloved dog. They are such wonderful companions. I’d have been lost without mine especially these last 18 months or so.
Hope you have either ventured out for milk or have managed to enjoy black coffee and tea! The idea of having a frozen pint is a really good one!

I often have silence here but have become hooked on the Olympics today!! 😊. Such talented athletes.

All sounds good apart from the absence of milk.

Good advice about putting milk in the freezer for emergencies. We keep some cartons of long life milk in the fridge. They are good for several months and we use them before the expiry date and replace them when needed. We are fortunate to have a daily delivery of milk (we are urban) which is about to change to three times a week. Our delivery includes sundries like butter and eggs and fresh vegetables if needed, along with an exotic range of other Bakery, Fresh and choices. We can order by 2 pm for next day delivery. This service which has been maintained during lockdowns has been much appreciated. We have had the same milk person for the past 10 years, since the first one retired. He had served us for over 20 years. Unusual these days to keep the same delivery people for longer than a few months. The company has changed its name several times with mergers etc, but the delivery depot is about 200 yards down the street, so normally our items are delivered by about 4.30 am each time.
