Oh dear!
Oh dear....or words to that extent! I have friends arriving for this long weekend who really dont want to mingle! Spreading any sort of infection now has become all too easy! And we are all much too aware of that. But it feels bad that people I have known for a very long time are trying very hard to avoid the usual contact....No shared meals, no visiting the local pubs, no going off on rambling walks together. We have all spoken by phone and the rules are set. This year we will stay safely on our own. Just in case! I know this is sensible...but it still feels bad and I will miss the usual chat as we walk the glorious countryside! Nor are the boats going far...they will not go off around the coast visiting favourite spots...and pubs . We will still talk alot I suppose...shouting at each other from a distance seems likely...Oh dear! I have checked my supplies...I have plenty to drink still but handing it out means getting too close again as we relax! Shouting at each other from a long way away just feels wrong...and I am not sure I can stick to it...but I will try. Honestly!

I wonder? If you have a large garden, there is no reason why you are not able to host people, well spaced out. They could even bring their own seating.
A table in the middle of a circle with the refreshments placed centrally, means they can help themselves, taking it in turns to replenish their drinks.
This is how some of us have been meeting in groups of six or less since earlier this year when the restrictions were relaxed.
I've also met friends and family in their garden to protect each other, all with masks until seated. Sanitation being available for those who would like to take advantage of it.
I am risk averse, but sensible arrangements are fine.
