It's now time to start getting out the suitcases. I am going away in a week and a half. By this time I have usually got out my cruise shoes...but this time nothing!
I will start today but very very slowly.
After the last disaster on the Fred Olsen cruise I am trying to get into the party spirit but failing badly.
Reading old blogs are not helping!
The last three cruises have been marked by my getting first a cold and then a cough...leading on to various chest conditions.....
Short of wearing a surgical mask I think breathing in the air conditioning must always put us at risk.
The one thing I have done is buy some cough and sore throat sweets.
I have a room with a balcony so keeping my doors open should help....
It's the first time I've actually planned for disaster ..... but memories of coughs and colds past are cropping up daily....
At least it's still summer...there are not too many chest infections around as yet...
A boat load of ancient old dears does not sound exciting but we are going to some lovely places..I've planned my trips out..and I am looking forward to walking the decks...as we glide through the bright turquoise sea.
We do the Bay of Biscay going and coming home so I'm including some sea sickness tablets in my bag too.
Hey ho...it's all part of the ancient cruising scene...I am lucky to be able to do it...but just this once I would like to stay germ free......

Quite ancient friends of mine are embarking on an adventure today. A trip to the lsle of Wight, lasted visited 60 years ago, when they were young and healthy.
Now their planning involves the need for access via lifts, no stairs due to mobility issues and walk in showers with a seat and a heightened WC seat to allow for difficulties sitting and standing and a fridge to store insulin for diabetes.
I admire their fortitude, as they brave the transport of taxi, coach, ferry to their destination. Only hone hotel on the Island is capable of meeting their needs fully, so the cost isn't important, security, peace of mind and comfort is.
Tesco do a antiseptic throatbtablet. That Ron and I used to suck when on flights and hospital visits. They seem to work Jean . Give them a go x
Thanks for that Babs...you don't happen to know what they are called?
