Chaos before Christmas.

Oh dear! Last week I finally reached a decision. I would ring the local painter and decorator...he has worked for me twice before and is a person whose judgement I trust. He is also a good painter....
When David and I bought this house someone had been right through it with council house cream. It was clean and light but some rooms have suffered over the last few years...my office particularly has dark, damp looking patches on its walls. So at the weekend I rang the painter.
He arrived yesterday...I explained what I wanted....my office plus the hall, stairs and landing.
He agreed and then broke the news that he would start on Monday!
Next Monday! Help!
My office contains two computers, a printer, and yards of electric cables joining it all together!
He will I know move everything and put it back but it will still be fraught!
What makes it stupid is that I am away over Christmas and will need to start packing at some stage...
Oh dear!
What on earth possessed me?
A couple of weeks of chaos is fine....but just before I travel and in the run up to the festive season means that I have finally gone bananas!
Christmas cards to write....I normally do that in my office where I can reach for relevant information easily.
So today I will start! Clearing up loose paper and piles of books, printing off my Christmas news letter, starting to write my cards...and it's not even December yet! But it will be by Monday!
Add to all this that several good friends are coming this week and my stepsons arrive on the same day as the painter...
Oh well, it's all part of life's rich pattern...or soothing words to that effect...I may need to keep the kettle on full time brewing up duty!
And then get my head tested...

Sometimes we get what we don't expect. Your brain storm inviting a painter into your lair while you will be busy preparing for all sorts of stuff and travel was definitely an unexpected complication that you don't need. Perhaps he needs the income before Christmas or alternatively, his work has slowed due to the proximity of Christmas and he has grabbed the opportunity to be employed, sooner, rather than later?

You have my sympathy and laughter as I contemplate you trying to balance all of this at the same time - perhaps the odd G&T will soothe the stress.
