Stupid ! Me describing me yesterday. How could I have fallen for what in retrospect is a very obvious scam.
I really should have known better.
We were dropped off in Grand Canaria yesterday...the bus would pick us up at lunch time. .
So off I went, looking at everything with great interest.
I had a glass of wine sitting in full sunshine looking .at the boats in the harbour.
In one of the jewellery shops I saw something much to my taste.
In I went.
That was the first mistake. The second, third and fourth were similar.
From talking to a pleasant young man about the purchase I was taken over by a second very good looking chap.
He said he was giving me a free gift. It was a tablet. Not something I needed but I could have passed it on so I took it.
I then gave him my bank card to pay for the item I liked. He looked up and told me that I was a rich woman.
At that point I really should have left the shop.
I didn't. I was more amused than alarmed.
I told him that I didn't have much time...I had a bus to catch.
Then things started to arrive next to the pendant. A small tablet, a case for it...these were free gifts he told me.
I didn't need them and refused the bit of technology he said I would need at home.
All this was taking time and I had a bus to catch.
"Can we get on with this?" I was getting tetchy.
The next several minutes were on similar lines. I finally got out and ran...the bus had waited...
Arriving back on board I lost no time in getting onto the internet on my own iPad.
The free gifts not surprisingly didn't work.
I had been taken...that much was evident. So far I have no idea what the damage might be....
Stupid stupid woman...a lesson learned .....hopefully.

Oh bugger. And you can usually spot a con a mile off. Hope you can mittigate any negative result by contacting your bank asap
You should Jean cancel your card.
I can't Babs or I wouldn't be able to pay Cunard.....I don't have any cheques with me!
Oh Dear is the words I am thinking off. Too late for words of warning, plausible scammers abound, particularly in foreign climes, but also here at home.
I do hope that your bank is not cleared out, as the payment to cunard will be the least of your problems, perhaps an email to the bank, stopping any payments might work, although it might be too late.
Oh dear. Well contact your bank asap. I always have two cards, I know it's being wise after the event. But do be careful there are people out there making a living out of people like us.
I seem to pay through the nose for everything. However I have Ron by my side most days and I try and do what we always did xxxbe careful honey.
