I am getting forgetful. I don’t remember things. I have forgotten the date of a meeting I am booked to go to this month.
A quick search through my mail box has revealed a great many meetings. But none of them are what I’m looking for.
This week I forgot the name of the trusted local plumber. I had to ring my cleaner to get the name.
Day to day it’s not a problem...I remember more than I forget but it has become apparent that my memory is not what it was.
I am working out strategies to cope with this.
Writing everything down is one of them .
One of my apps is there to remind me about important dates. So yesterday I looked for birthday cards for my grand daughter, and daughter in law.
Cards are now written . All I have to do is remember to get them in the post!
It’s not really as bad as I’m suggesting..so far I’ve not forgotten anything important...I don’t think...
But then if I have forgotten something I wouldn’t know....mostly...
It’s all part of the aging process.
I play daft games everyday to keep my brain moving.
Scrabble, card games etc do help....
But this mornings problem is to find the date of the February meeting...
Not turning up would not be a good idea!
My brain holds wonderful memories...I don’t want to lose them...please God.
Later
Having written that I did find what I was looking for. The meeting I didn’t want to miss is in May....arghhhhh!

This is such familiar territory Jean. I find lots of small details appear to have vanished from my memory, only for them to come galloping back a few seconds later.
Names are a particular problem, but I know my mind is still pretty much up to scratch when it comes to TV quiz shows.
I watch as many as i can fit in and in the average week take active part (yelling the answers at the screen) in at least 8.
As I explain to anyone who will listen, the library is still well stacked. It's just the retrieval system which is not so good.
Good to know that I am not the only one, even though a tad younger than you. I use my diary for this sort of thing, but I need to remember to check it daily. I did it when I was working, but retirement has meant a raincheck on the process, so I now need to develop the skills that I have lost.
Often I've turned up a day early, as I entered the date and time of a meeting in the diary on the wrong date, or have missed an appointment with my Osteopath because even though it was in the diary, I had become so engrossed in something else, I completely forgot.
I need to regain the discipline that I used to possess, if I could only remember how?
I love that Ray! I too shout the answers out at the TV regularly...but my retrieval system is also flawed!
