Nuisance calls?

It was an interesting day yesterday.....for all the wrong reasons.
Some time ago I had put a BT app on my iPad which I’ve never really used except to see what calls I’ve made on receiving the bill.
The nuisance calls having mounted up I decided to tick the paragraph that offered to cut out all the dodgy stuff and the unwanted ones.
During the afternoon the verger from church arrived. He had tried to ring me several times but failed. Was I alright?
I was but I was puzzled.
"Try ringing yourself from your mobile ." The man had obviously tried to reach me several times with no success.
My mobile call to my landline failed no ringing ensued. BT was shielding me from myself!
Trying to remove the problem I then had to jump through endless hoops trying to get BT to put my phone back to normal.
It took up far too much time and did not improve my mood at all but in the end I did it.
I then had to ask a couple of friends to ring me to ensure I really was back to normal
I will put up with the so called "international" calls trying to sell me stuff...in order to be available to friends and anyone who needs me.
And many thanks to our verger for taking the trouble to come and find me or I would never have known....

Perhaps a call blocker on your land line would help. You can key in all of the numbers of your contact, so they get through, but it blocks number withheld calls and ones not in your contact list.

For a priest that would be a disaster. I have to be available to anyone who needs me. I’ll put up with the rest!

Without any of your IT skills I felt there was no end to my nuisance calls until recently. I had yet another call allegedly from TPS. I then had another 2 calls from them in the same day.
Realising this scam was getting out of hand I looked up BT 1572 details and followed their instructions to delete the number (or 'blacklist' it) and to my delight the calls have stopped.
It's not that I would have fallen for their tricks, just that i was fed up with their constant calls , almost always at meal times.
I am now waiting for the piece of technology which will put all nuisance callers on a desert island with no phone lines.
