Con at sea!

I was woken up very early this morning by my mobile ringing. We are in the middle of the Atlantic so this was unprecedented.
Picking it up I heard a.foreign voice asking for Jean. I told him I was Jean, still half asleep.
The voice said it needed to talk to me about my life insurance policy. That woke me up.
" I don’t have one."
I was very emphatic. There was a spluttering sound as I ended the call.
What sort of world are we living in when strangers can try to con you before breakfast in the middle of the Atlantic sea?
This was a day when I had intended to have a lie in...and of course I still can...
So far I haven’t switched on the TV. to see the latest episode of the political drama capturing America..it has made for very interesting viewing over the last month.
On sea days there is time to catch up on everything. I have still to actually go into the shops to buy something...so far window shopping has been quite enough but these shops are I think a little more interesting than on the other two Cunard vessels.
I’ve given up the idea of buying a nightie...sleeping in the two huge tee shirts has been fine...I may keep it up when I get home...
We are all aware that the culture of the ship has switched from English to German so our British table remains a sanctuary of Britishness in the evening.
The fact that all the German guests speak English well does not help...and it’s too late to learn their language now, for me anyway.
I will enjoy our days at sea...providing no one else rings before seven am
