Packing again!

The worst thing that is happening in the pre Christmas rush is that I am losing things.
I spend far too much time searching for small items that I’ve put somewhere safe. Too safe....I mutter as I go through drawers, bags and pockets.
Even once I’ve remembered where I put things I can then lose them again once they are wrapped...because they all then look the same in their bright parcels...
Obviously a label would help...but it’s too easy to get distracted when at some stage the phone rings or there is a knock on the door . There are too many things happening in this pre Christmas period especially if you are packing a suitcase as well.
The last time I went on a cruise I forgot my nightie and had to buy two very large men’s tee shirts to sleep in.
Two pretty nighties were the first things in my case this time..
The suitcase is now on the bed in the spare room...with just two nightgowns in it!
It’s clearly a bit much to be preparing for two different things...and I am very aware that Christmas and cruising don’t mix at this stage of planning.
Getting medication for the first month of next year is proving a small problem..no one actually believes that I won’t be here...even though the news of my retirement seems to have travelled well.
There are too many small details to sort out...and getting the cards written and posted is taking up far too much time.
An old friend bringing me mince pies arrived yesterday. It was good to see her and the mince pies but during the next week there will be other visitors, especially family so that I need to get all my ducks in a row this week...because there will be precious little time next week.
All of this is my own fault...retiring just before Christmas may not have been the best idea.
But it’s done.
So I just have to work methodically...and that’s easier said than done right now.
