Press Conference?

I find it very worrying that it is evident from the comments from our fellow Europeans that our Prime Minister is fast becoming a figure of fun...  To see someone pointing at an empty podium where Boris should have been puts  it all in place.  Our Prime Minister is clearly seen as a bit of a clown  by our European partners.

I should be cross with them but I’m not because I feel much the same. How long can this go on?  Boris has got his wish.  He is the Prime Minister...so now what? If he’s going to go on with the work involved as well as the photo opportunities then he actually has to do some serious thinking! Becoming Prime Minister is not an end in itself...it’s what you do when you get there that matters.

And surely suspending parliament in order to get your own way  is really not on. I suspect that lots of people will be feeling much the same...  Boris is clearly hoping to follow the lead from President Trump. But this is what makes it so worrying.  Both men are the ones with their fingers  on the nuclear buttons......

The world we live in is a very dangerous place right now...and having someone in charge who seems more involved in his own importance than in what is right for our country is not a good sight every time he is filmed along the way. .. It is all making me feel anxious as I watch the various utterances coming out of Downing Street.

Did Boris break the law? Did he mislead the Queen?   Is it all going to be sorted out this morning in the Supreme Court?

Time to settle down to some serious thinking and decision making now surely?   We can only hope!

Boris is displaying his David Cameron traits, running away from confrontation because his bluff was called by the PM of a tiny state, which has enormous influence within the EU as one of the founder members.

Why Borish should be so afraid of a few demonstrators, is beyond me. If his case is strong and genuine, he needs to be prepared to defend it to the hilt, all we get is sound bites and the oft repeated phrase "we are leaving, death or die" on 31st October. Despite the law passed by Parliament preventing a no deal exit.

He has said that he won't ask for an extension, despite that law and that Parliament will have ample time between 14 Oct - 31 Oct to debate his mystical deal, which he says he is proposing, which is a cobbled together version of the "Malthouse" deal, meaning that NI will be in a Customs Union with the UK and not with Europe. How that works remains to be seen, but it ignores the idea of an open border between Us and Europe, where the EU could well apply tarrifs, whether we want them or not. Most of this depends on others coming on side the DUP say they would (maybe) except it but Eire says not so.

To be honest, I don't have a clue what will happen. Boris is obviously convinced that he is right and everyone else is either wrong or a traitor.

And the Spectre of Mr Farage is on the wings, waiting for a general election to get his extremists into government.

Your idea of cruises is attractive at the moment, get on a ship, sail away and find somewhere else to stay until it is all over.
