Now here’s a new one....I keep getting emails from a firm I’ve never heard of and don’t want...so I tried to unsubscribe. This should have been easy! It wasn’t. They ask for my email address in order to remove it from their list. When I put it in they they then ask me to check it...the inference being that it’s incorrect.
It isn’t. But I just keep failing to unsubscribe. This in itself isn’t a real problem. They go into the rejection box several times a day. It’s just annoying...they have guaranteed that I will never buy their product...because it just makes me cross.
I love most of my dealings with the internet...being able to send messages off easily to old friends is wonderful... and specially the deaf ones who can’t hear my phone calls! Instant communication is something we may have dreamed of in our youth. Now we take it for granted . Well I do anyway.
This is a puzzle to some of my friends..those who have yet to get on line...but it does make life easier....specially doing my big weekly shop. Tesco or Sainsbury’s arrive at the specified time and bring all my shopping for the week into my kitchen for me. No lifting heavy bags...queuing at tills, having to drive to the nearest shops....It is a boon in my old age I could never have dreamed of. So I’m not really complaining about getting unwanted email.... but a girl enjoys a bit of a grumble occasionally!
I acknowledge that my joy in finding an easy way of shopping is due to my age. For an ancient old woman living miles from anywhere it really is a boon and one I much appreciate. Long may it continue!

The issue is one that they are breaking the law by sending you unasked for emails. And they are holding your data against your will, by making it difficult to unsubscribe.
I would report them to the information commissioner because of this.
Online shopping will probably suit us in a few years, for now though, I will stick to going to the supermarket and buying at the coal face.
