Moving on.
I am going out today as the wind and rain seem to be bearable out there. I need to visit an old friend who is poorly in the next village but of course this all depends on my car starting! It was running well enough last week but that was before buckets of water got thrown at it! We shall see. It looks fine out there right now...and the forecast has improved. But still. Oddly the friend here at the moment lives in Shropshire and has been told that his house has been flooded but with help from his daughter and the neighbours they have got it under control. Here in Cornwall it is positively balmy just now..but do we trust it? Having seen the worst it can do we are all too aware of the dangers. I live quite high on a cliff. Immediately in front of me is a meadow which often contains cows. Below the meadow is the sea...across the sea is Falmouth. During the last days several huge ships have sought safety by mooring up and their lights at night make for a beautiful scene. Some have gone this morning which I suppose means that the forecast is good for the moment. Normal life resumes slowly after being battered for several days. I am hoping to get back to normal now. ..... ..starting with a spot of visiting! fingers crossed...or something

The weather is still an issue in some parts of the country prone to flooding. Severe flood warnings are still in place, with more rain forecast for the next few days, maintains that risk.
And water on high ground, flows down into rivers and water courses, so sadly, some people will be at risk for a while yet.
We are fortunate to live on a hill, above the Thames, so water following its course goes there. But our grandchildren live down by the River with their mother, and when the Thames goes into flood, they are at risk. But even flooding recently close to them, didn't reach them, as flood barriers appear to be working, albeit their high street had some water. And a Morrisons Store built on the River Bank had a bit in their car park, but not in the store.
