Spectacles !
It’s Saturday. In the past this was the day to go shopping...in the more recent past it was the day to write a sermon, choose hymns and talk to the church warden of the church I was going to the next day. Now it’s just one more day...but it does have one good thing. I can stay in bed for a little longer. During the week I am up , dressed and moving by nine. On Sunday I need to be ready to go to church...even though I often don’t go. But Saturday is different. It’s a lie in day. I regret that this is a solitary pastime these days. However a look outside shows a pleasant day out there. .....though tomorrow has a poor forecast. So if I’m going out this weekend, this is the day! But here is the problem...I have become housebound...by my own choice. It’s just easier to stay put .My shopping comes to me rather than the other way round. Yesterday I spent time ordering some new reading glasses...leaving specs behind me has become a problem which I deal with by having several pairs around the place. Over the years I have accumulated several pairs of specs with slightly broken frames in lots of different colours. I have become the sort of woman who keeps several pairs of specs in bags around the house...so I am the answer to someone’s prayer. The seller of my specs now calls me Jean! Oh dear! They won’t arrive today so perhaps I can shop for something else...As the sun is now shining out there...perhaps I need to check the whereabouts of my sunglasses!

Spectacles are the bane of my life. I have pairs in the bag I carry, pairs in the the car. And pairs by the bed. We recently gave 9 pairs of old spectacles to a local opticians who repurposes them and sends them abroad.
Given how much my lenses cost, I get a bit protective of old specs but accumulating them when they are no longer suitable isn't a good idea.
I hope that you are not accumulating them for the sake of it?
