Another parting.

Oh dear! I seem to be saying that alot just now. Oh dear! My friend spent yesterday getting his car ready to travel. We are actually planning to go for a meal in the local pub tonight. I have got my mask ready. After he departs I will be back in self isolation. So that is actually OK. I can do this. Later this month I am booked into a very good hotel a few miles away. When I booked it it was suppposed to replace the cruises I used to go on but now I just wonder if its really a good idea! Its a lovely hotel perched on a cliff overloooking a beautiful beach. In the past I would have planned to swim and walk the cliff path but now I will be happy to stay quietly inside the grounds looking out to sea. I am aware that those of us who are old are counted as expendable in this pendemic and that seems fair. We have had our lives..I just want whats left to me to be fairly pleasant if not actually wonderful. We shall see.... but first I must face the fact that when my friend leaves here it may be the last time we shall see each other. I may weep but only on my own. So be it.

Good morning Jean, I hope you have a lovely meal with your friend later. Hopefully spending time together in different surroundings will be a great joy and may help you to see that your forthcoming hotel stay is something to really look forward to.

I don’t think that old people are seen to be expendable but it’s certainly clear that those of us of more senior years are more at risk from Covid 19. It’s really down to the whole of society to rally together to protect the vulnerable.

Keep safe, and I for one look forward to hearing about your meal!
