Packing.

Its raining outside so no good walk today . Instead I will try to imagine what I might need in the hotel. Masks of course. Who would have thought it? The hotel sits high on a cliff looking out to sea. When I booked it I imagined the joy of walking the long beach most days. So taking my wellies was high on the list. Swimming in the sea at this stage of the year was never a reasonable idea but there is a pool attached to the hotel. Now I imagine that that would be a possible danger zone...bugs can swim! Treating everything as possibly hazardous is foreign to my nature but its now something we all have to get used to. Months ago when I chose this way of having a holiday it never occurred to me that the virus would be in control of all our movements. So its going to be very different. Having a drink in the bar before dinner was always a good way of meeting fellow guests...this time I am not sure.. so I have got a couple of flasks already packed. Scotch on my own was never what I intended but as things are it might have to be. I am trying to think of this trip as a holiday rather than a retreat but thats probably not going to happen. So today I pack...stout shoes, wellies, heavy outer wear...I am ready for gales rather than a pleasant stroll. Some evening wear will go in just in case but I dont it will be needed.... oh dear....I had better get myself organised now....I cant sit up in bed moaning my lot in life for very long.... I will try to blog once I am there but have no idea if its going to be possible. We shall see!

Good morning Jean. Hope you have a great stay at the hotel. I am sure they would welcome a phone call before you arrive so you can check whether the pool is open and the bar!!
Look forward to reading about it!
Take care

Packing emergency supplies of Scotch is probably sensible. Because the hotel might not stock your most favourite brand of Scotch. I understood that if a pool is sterile and cleaned it should be safe? Our local pool in a health centre is open.

I hope your stay goes well and that you are able to meet people, suitably distanced, masked and sanitized to at least have conversations. Perhaps if they have an open air bar or verandah that might be a safer place to use.

Enjoy your staycation you never know Jean you might enjoy it. A new adventure for you and at our age that can’t be a bad thing. Today is an adventure for me I’m going to pick up a new car. Should have changed it years ago but like you sentimentally attached as it was my Ron’s car and choice. So wish me luck. Xx
