Still alive!
Well Life continues... not quite life as I know it but life certainly. I woke up remembering how close to disaster this house came and me with it but I was able to sleep in my own bed again and I did sleep. I was very tired and sleep was a welcome relief. Last night I had a food delivery ordered before the worst of the weather struck. I had not forgotten it but I had forgotten how much alcohol I had ordered. So I can clear up the mess with a smile on my face. My biggest problem now is trying to convince people how bad it was here. I slept well last night back in my own bed, now dried out thankfully but the memory of water pouring through the roof at one stage will stay with me forever. The electricty is back on too and last evening I had a Tesco delivery! I have food in the fridge and enough alcohol to keep me happy for a week! But the memory of how close I came to disaster will not leave me just yet. I am very fortunate to still have a home complete with food and drink. The disaster averted has left me both thankful and aware of possible danger. I really do pray that the danger has now passed and will stay in the past. Outside its dark...rain looks possible and I will never forget how appalling it was just a couple of nights ago. For people assuming that I am exagerrating I can promise you that I am not. I hope never to live through another night like that again. God willing.

Oh dear, I certainly believe you - we have a Bit of a History with watertastrophes. The last and worst was a mains pressure burst in the loft that was running for nearly a week while we were down here: it wrecked the whole house and having to empty it completely, with a total refurbish paid for by the insurance, was an obvious Hint to get on with selling it and complete the joining of our households that had been in progress for some years.
Himself still has "water leak" nightmares even three years later.
I'm thankful yours is sorted but take the cleanup slowly - it's surprising how long it takes to dry a place out. May you have a bit more peace for a while now (and be safely jabbed!)
Good morning Jean. Oh my word. Sounds like you have had a lucky escape, although it didn’t feel like it at the time.
Glad you have food, and a bottle or two to see you through the next week or so.
Keep warm, keep safe. Snowy blizzard here!
Late to the party again. I am glad that your roof is fixed, you have had a torrid few days, and I presume that your collapsed garden wall is still waiting to be fixed.
Being able to sleep safely in your own bed is important, and I hope that it has dried out well. The mattress must have been soaked through, let alone the bed clothes.
And you have a full fridge again and sufficient beverages for a week, hopefully in moderation.
Prayers continue for your situation, that the wall can be fixed quickly and for your peace of mind and well being, even for your vaccination as well.
Keep well, keep safe and hopefully, with better things to happen soon.
