Daily Life!

Strange how the habit of blogging falls short when chaos lies all around you. I was up early..I needed to talk to the men working outside. Nothing I wanted to change seems possible right now. Its very weird having the sounds of men working quite close at hand without taking them cups of tea etc . The whole way of living has now changed. We can still exchange views...talking hasnt become difficult...but this morning I needed to be sure I had paid the men working outside....I had to come in and search my bank details to be reassured. My memory is proving unreliable. I think I have said or done something which I later find I havnt. I am getting too old for all this. Sitting quietly on my own with the sound of banging near at hand has become a daily pass time. In the evening I am watching the news to find out what is going on elsewhere...and watching the other stuff on the TV is saving my sanity...Ive never watched so much rubbish! And enjoyed it in the face of being alone most of the time. Somehow the soaps have become familiar friends I can rely on. Its all very odd. But its getting me through this strange period. Mostly!

A similar situation here. Having finished the garden last week, we had four days of respite. Then the scaffolders arrived yesterday morning to put up a route for the builder to address problems with our chimneys and loose tiles damaged during the recent high winds. A scaffold went up in double quick time and our 60 year old builder got to do a proper survey of the roof. One chimney was in danger of falling down, which has been made safe. The other is sound, just needing repointing. So we know it will take another week to complete the work. He came off the roof having worked in a high freezing wind for four hours. He will be back with his crew today, we will have four on site for the rest of the week, probably finishing on Saturday. He is sticking to his agreed price, despite the extra work. He has a good name and business, and has picked up three new jobs from neighbours just by being here and their seeing how good his work is. A bonus for him, as during various lockdowns, he has worked quite a lot less than normal.

I hope and pray that your situation is clearer for you and you get some respite soon.
