Ready!

I am up, dressed and ready ....this is the morning my cleaner comes...and I shall be glad to see her. Silly little things have gone wrong over the weekend and she will deal with them I know. I am aware that I am getting older...not quite as strong either mentally or physically as I was last year. But old habits die hard...I have walked the garden and all is well. Everything in fact feels normal so I have clearly adjusted to a new version of normal..and I suppose thats the secret of old age. Its very quiet out there this morning...many of our visitors seem to have gone home. But I expect more will arrive at some stage. The large cock is no longer following me around so my walks are solitary again. But I do miss him...his colourful presence was always a pleasure. The house feels warm and I realise that my heating is still on..and I dont want to turn it off just yet...we can get cold weather in May! There are far fewer cars on the road this morning. Maybe we will have a quiet week! I am not sure just now if I need peace more than chaos...both help to keep me functioning...and thats the point ...I am still functioning...not always very convincingly but still moving and eating and sleeping...I have yet to see if anything is happening in Falmouth....all seems quiet just now....lets hope it stays that way!

I suspect your cleaner will have kept you chatting as she shares the local news with you. You sound content, which is a bonus and if this new normal suits you, all well to the good.

I think that we are all adapting, to whatever is thrown at us. I went to the corner shop this morning wearing a mask, as sign on the door tells people to wear a mask and sanitize their hands, but two young workmen followed me in, choosing to ignore both requests. And got way to close for my comfort. I got my newspaper and some milk and left quickly.

Why some younger people who obviously are at much less risk of severe consequences believe that they are invulnerable to infection behave that way, I am unable to fathom? Both I and the shopkeeper were masked.

Obviously he could have refused to serve them, but given their age and gobbiness, I believe that he didn't need the hassle. And he has a business to run. Mind you, he must be making a packet as his customers have increased hugely in the past few months.
